Bart Name & Location
Bart Meltzer, Northgate, Seattle, WA; Rockaway, NJ; Chicago, IL. During the course of a year, I'm in all three places an equal amount of time.

How long have you considered yourself an Atheist?
Ten years

How do you prefer to describe your non-belief?
American Atheist

Can you describe a personal event or discovery that had a major influence on your non-beliefs?
No events or discoveries. It was a gradual realization. I simply started thinking about it.

Why did you join Seattle Atheists?
To participate in and support local Atheist events in Seattle. So far, I've been out of town too much to do either.

What do you consider to be a common misconception about atheists?
No beliefs, no morals, no meaning for life.

What is the meaning of life?
I can only speak for the meaning of my life. To enjoy my children growing up (Marissa & Joshua), to enjoy being with the love of my life (Ellen Johnson), to enjoy life as much as possible (flying jets), to do what I can to make our country better by removing the influence of religion from our government. Our life purpose or meaning is nothing more than the path we decide to follow while we're alive. Each person creates their own meaning for their life.

What are 1 or 2 of your favorite atheist-related websites?
American Atheists & Internet Infidels Newswire.

If you could have a serious discussion or debate with one living person in the world, who would it be?
Whoever our next president is.

Share a favorite quote.
"Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, imprisoned ; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth."
--Thomas Jefferson, Notes on Virginia, Published: 1781-1782
