Atheism is most definitely not a religion. By declaring yourself an atheist you are simply separating yourself from the people that claim to have religious beliefs. I consider myself agnostic, preferring the term because of the open hostility that is cast upon any individual who has the audacity to say "the emperor has on no clothes". Unfortunately the term atheism is so laden with misconceptions and "baggage" that many practicing church members can not get past the title. I applaud your organization for its work to keep the separation of Church and State intact. I applaud your courage to speak out and express your views. Well written piece.
